GUIDE

About the A-level Psychology (AQA) exam and how to study with examplat

About AQA A-level Psychology (7182)

AQA A-level Psychology (7182) is assessed through three written papers, each 2 hours: introductory topics (social influence, memory, attachment, psychopathology), psychology in context (approaches, biopsychology, research methods), and issues and options (issues and debates, plus options such as relationships, schizophrenia, aggression, eating behaviour, gender, forensic psychology and stress). Students are graded from A* to E.

Papers mix multiple-choice, short-answer and extended-writing questions, and require students to apply knowledge to short scenarios, evaluate studies and understand research methods and statistics. Check AQA's website for the current specification and exam dates.

How to study the question types

For application questions, quote the scenario and link it to a concept. For evaluation, make each point a chain: the strength or limitation, the evidence, and why it matters. In research methods, practise operationalising variables, choosing a design, naming a sampling method and judging validity and reliability.

Use multiple-choice practice to check precise terms and findings, for example the difference between a sample and a population, or the role of a neurotransmitter.

How to use examplat for A-level Psychology

examplat holds about 1,000 original multiple-choice questions organised by topic, each with an explanation and links to the AQA specification and to published research. Choose a topic, practise in short sessions and review the wrong answers together.

examplat covers multiple-choice practice only: it does not mark extended writing, and it has no study notes or interactive figures for this exam. Use your textbook and past papers published by AQA alongside it.
