Natural hazards

A coastal town experiences frequent tropical storms. Which factor most directly increases the number of people exposed to storm-surge flooding?

WHY EXAMPLAT

Clear explanations — no wasted study time

  1. Answer
  2. Understand
  3. Re-solve your mistakes

Clear explanations

Right after you answer, you see the conclusion and the explanation, so you understand why — and can handle the same idea in a different form. Each one links to its primary source.

Review only your mistakes

Wrong answers and questions answered with hints are recorded, so you can re-solve just those and spend your time on your weak spots.

HOW IT WORKS

How it works

  1. 1

Answer one question at a time

Choose 10 random questions, an area, a difficulty level or a timed mock exam. If you are stuck, reveal up to three hints.

  2. 2

Read the explanation and its source

Right after you answer, you see the conclusion, the explanation and links to the primary sources behind it.

  3. 3

    Re-solve what you got wrong

Wrong answers and questions answered with hints are recorded so you can review them together.

GUIDE

About the GCSE Geography (AQA) exam and how to study with examplat

About AQA GCSE Geography (8035)

AQA GCSE Geography (8035) is a two-year qualification taken in England and Wales. It is assessed through three written papers: living with the physical environment (natural hazards, ecosystems, UK landscapes), challenges in the human environment (urban issues, economic change, resource management), and geographical applications, which includes fieldwork and issue evaluation. Students are graded from 9 to 1.

Questions range from one-mark recall to extended answers worth several marks, and many use maps, graphs and data. Check AQA's website for the current specification, exam dates and mark schemes.

How to study the question types

For explain questions, make each point a chain: state a factor, say how it works, and link it to the effect asked about. For example, a densely populated area in a hazard zone is exposed to more people, so potential losses are higher. Use the command word (describe, explain, assess, evaluate) to decide how much to write.

For data and map skills, practise calculating from scale, percentage change and averages, and say what the data show before explaining why. Learn case studies with specific places, dates and figures.

How to use examplat for GCSE Geography

examplat holds about 1,000 original practice questions: short written answers with marks, and a few multiple-choice questions, organised by topic. Each has a model answer and a marking guide, and links to the AQA specification.

You type your answer and examplat gives an automatic score as a guide, by how many of the key points and figures in the model answer you include. It is not a teacher's mark, and your answer can be correct in other words; always compare it with the model answer and the marking guide.

FAQ

FAQ

Can I try it for free?

Yes. 5 sample questions with explanations are free with no sign-up.

Are these past exam questions or an official question bank?

No. All questions and explanations are original content written by Sakakikaen Co., Ltd. They are not reproduced exam questions and are not produced, supervised or endorsed by the exam body.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It runs in your browser, and you can add it to your home screen to use it like an app.

Can I cancel?

You can cancel any time from My Portal and keep access until the end of the period you paid for.

Who runs examplat?

Sakakikaen Co., Ltd., a company registered in Japan. Our company and legal information, including how to contact us, is linked in the footer of every page.

How do payments work?

Checkout is handled by Stripe, a payment provider used worldwide; your card number never reaches us. Prices for this exam are charged in US dollars, and nothing changes your plan without your action.

Do I type written answers?

Yes, for the written questions. Type your answer with the keyboard and examplat gives a score as a guide, based on how many of the key words and numbers in the model answer you include. It is an automatic check, not a human mark, and it does not read meaning, so a rephrased answer can score lower than it deserves. Always compare your answer with the model answer and the marking guide that are shown.

Are these official AQA questions?

No. All questions are original and written by Sakakikaen Co., Ltd. They are not past paper questions, and examplat is not affiliated with or endorsed by AQA. AQA is a trademark of AQA Education.

Does it include study notes or interactive figures?

Not for this exam. Each question comes with an explanation and links to the sources behind it.
