FAQ
Questions people ask before they start
Are these official JFT-Basic questions?
No. These are unofficial practice questions, not affiliated with the Japan Foundation, Prometric, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare or any body that runs the test. All questions are written independently by Sakakikaen Co., Ltd. They are not copies or reproductions of teaching materials or test questions; we wrote them with reference to publicly available information. The test name is used only to show which test you are practising for.
Is it free to try?
Yes. 3 questions with explanations are free, with no sign-up and no card. The rest of the questions are in the paid plans.
Do I need to read Japanese?
The questions are in Japanese, as in the test, with furigana over the kanji. The explanations and hints are in English, so you can see why an answer is right even while the Japanese is still difficult.
Does it tell me my JFT-Basic level?
No. The A1, A2.1 and A2.2 marks are only a guide for practice. Your real result is decided by the score the Japan Foundation gives you in the test.
Is there listening practice?
Not yet. The listening audio is in preparation and will use synthetic voices, which are different from the voices in the real test. The other 3 sections are available now.
