Summary completion은 지문 일부를 바꾸어 쓴 요약문의 빈칸을 채우는 유형입니다. 지시에 따라 지문의 단어로 빈칸을 채우거나 보기 상자에서 고릅니다.

지문 일부의 요약문을 지문의 단어나 보기 상자의 단어로 완성합니다. 요약문은 지문을 바꿔 쓴 것이므로, 같은 내용이 다른 표현으로 나온 곳을 찾으세요.

푸는 방법

  1. 지시문을 확인합니다. 단어 수 제한(예: NO MORE THAN TWO WORDS)이 있는지, 보기 상자에서 고르는지 봅니다.
  2. 요약문을 끝까지 읽고 각 빈칸에 들어갈 단어의 종류(명사, 숫자, 형용사, 동사)를 예측합니다.
  3. 요약문이 다루는 지문의 부분을 찾습니다. 빈칸은 보통 본문 순서를 따릅니다.
  4. 빈칸을 채운 뒤 문장을 다시 읽습니다. 문법적으로 맞고 지문과 의미가 같아야 합니다.

자주 하는 실수

  • 단어 수 제한을 넘기는 것. 내용이 맞더라도 단어가 너무 많은 답은 오답 처리됩니다.
  • 의미는 맞지만 문법에 맞지 않는 단어를 옮겨 쓰는 것. 예를 들어 복수가 필요한 자리에 단수 명사를 쓰는 경우입니다.
  • 보기 상자가 있을 때 지문에 나왔다는 이유로 단어를 고르는 것. 정답 보기는 동의어인 경우가 많습니다.

Most research on plastic pollution has focused on the oceans, but scientists are increasingly concerned about plastic in farmland. Tiny fragments, known as microplastics, reach fields from several sources. Thin plastic sheets laid over crops to keep in moisture break down in sunlight and are difficult to remove completely after harvest. Sewage sludge, which is spread on land as fertiliser in many countries, contains fibres washed from synthetic clothing. Once in the soil, microplastics can change its structure. Some studies have found that fragments make soil looser and allow it to dry out faster, while others report little effect; the outcome seems to depend on the shape and type of plastic. Earthworms that swallow particles have been observed to grow more slowly, which is a concern because their burrowing helps air and water move through the soil. Measuring the problem is difficult. Unlike seawater, soil contains a great deal of organic matter, which must be removed before plastic particles can be counted, and standard methods have not yet been agreed. As a result, estimates of the amount of plastic in farmland vary widely between studies, and researchers say comparisons should be made with caution.

  4. Incorrect. 'Heavier' is the right part of speech but is not what the passage reports, and heavier soil would not logically dry out faster.
