About the EPS-TOPIK

The EPS-TOPIK (Employment Permit System Test of Proficiency in Korean) is the Korean-language test for people who want to work in Korea under the Employment Permit System. It is run by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea (HRD Korea), and the dates are announced separately for each country.

The test has 20 reading questions and 20 listening questions, 40 in total, in 50 minutes, for 100 points. All questions have 4 choices. It is a relative evaluation: candidates above the minimum score for each industry are selected in order of score, up to the number of people needed. The format can change, so check the HRD Korea EPS-TOPIK website before you apply.

How the questions on examplat work

The questions, choices, notices and dialogues are in Korean, as in the test. The explanations and the three-step hints are in Vietnamese, Indonesian and English. They are AI translations of explanations we wrote ourselves.

Reading questions cover vocabulary and grammar, signs and practical texts (safety signs, notices, work schedules, pay slips) and short texts about work and daily life in Korea. Every answer has a source, such as the National Institute of Korean Language dictionary or Korean labour and safety law.

Listening

Listening questions are in preparation. When they are ready, they will use synthetic (computer-generated) Korean voices, which are different from the voices in the real test. Until then, examplat covers the reading section.

How to study with examplat

Start with the 3 free questions to see the level. Then practise one question type at a time in short daily sessions on your phone. Wrong answers and questions you answered with hints are saved, so you can re-solve them and spend your time on your weakest area. Because the result is decided by ranking, aim to raise your score as high as you can, not just to pass a line.
