Frequently asked questions
How many times can I try without signing up?
3 times a day, up to 300 characters each, with no sign-up and no card. The free trial also reads 1 photo or PDF a day (first page only). The day resets at midnight Japan time.
Which languages are supported?
40+ languages, including Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Hindi, Spanish and French. The language is detected automatically and you can pick another from the list.
Can I download the audio?
Yes, after you sign in and top up: each read can be saved as an MP3 for 24 hours. The free trial is playback only.
Can it read photos or PDFs?
Yes. PDFs up to 50 pages and 7 MB at a time. Text on pages with fewer than 50 characters is not charged.
How much does it cost?
Standard voices are US$0.16 and HD voices US$0.28 per 1,000 characters, deducted from prepaid credit (US$5, US$10 or US$30). Before each read you see the characters, the price and your balance.
Does my credit expire?
Paid credit stays valid for 1 year from the last time you use it. Bonus credit lasts 90 days (the monthly subscriber bonus lasts until the end of that month).
Can I get a refund?
Unused top-ups can be fully refunded within 14 days, from “Balance details and history” on this page. Used top-ups and bonus credit can't be refunded.
